HOUSING

The tournament directors request that all participants competing in The Glenbrooks stay at the tournament host hotels.  Hotel blocks have been made at the six sites listed below.  Please make your reservations early. Identify yourself as a participant at The Glenbrooks.

Registration, social functions, and Monday elimination rounds will take place at the Hyatt-Deerfield.

  • Hyatt-Deerfield
    1-847-945-3400 – This is our primary host hotel and we encourage our guests to book here- tournament registration, receptions, and debate elimination rounds will take place here.  $91.00 per night per room.  Rate includes high speed wireless internet access in rooms.   • Hilton Northbrook
    1-847-509-7020 OR 1-800-HILTONS – This is hotel is 1 mile from Glenbrook North HS and 2 miles from Glenbrook South HS at 2855 Milwaukee Avenue, Northbrook, IL.  $98 per night per room.  To make reservations call the phone number and mention the block name:  The Glenbrook Speech and Debate Tournament or use the reservation link.

  • Embassy Suites
    1-847-945-4500 – All reservations should be made via email.  Please see the room list form for registration details.  Across the street from the primary tournament hotel. $110 per night per room. Rate includes a buffet breakfast starting at 6:00 am and high speed internet access.  Gino’s Pizza is now open in the hotel.  Conference suites are available for $185 per room per night

  • Marriott Courtyard
    Glenview 1-800-321-2211 OR 1-847-803-2500 – Recently Completed Renovations! Room rates are $79.00 a night (a decrease from 2008!).  To reserve king rooms or to reserve double-double rooms, please click the appropriate link or call 800-321-2211 and reference the block “Glenbrook South High School”.  Rate includes high-speed internet access.  This site is one mile from GBS.

  • Sheraton Chicago Northbrook
    800-325-3535- New hotel located one mile from Glenbrook North and situated between the LD and IE venues on Willow Road.  Convenient to a lot of restaurants.  $69.00 plus tax for kings and $89.00 plus tax for double-doubles.   Please reference “The 2009 Glenbrooks” when making your reservations.

  • Marriott Renaissance North Shore
    This hotel is close to our Individual Events at New Trier-Northfield on Skokie Boulevard.  Rate is $79.00 a night, which includes wireless.  Ruth Chris’ Steakhouse on property.    You may call 800-468-3571 or the hotel directly at 847-498-6500 x1355 for reservations.  Please reference “The Glenbrooks Speech and Debate Tournament” when making your reservations.

TRANSPORTATION

Flights

We strongly recommend flights into O’Hare airport, not Midway. O’Hare is
approximately eight miles from the tournament; Midway is 45 miles in Chicago traffic.

Rental Cars

Transportation will not be provided by The Glenbrooks.  However, special tournament rental vehicle rates have been established with Ace Rental Cars – one of the only vehicle rental companies in the Chicagoland area with fifteen passenger vans.  They also have a large fleet and can provide any size vehicle needed.

Examples of Ace’s special tournament rates are:

  • Full-size – $34.95 per day
  • Minivan (7 passenger) – $49.95
  • Full-sized SUV (8 passenger) – $109.95 per day
  • 12 Passenger Van – $126.95 per day
  • 15 Passenger Van – $115.95 per day

All vehicles are 2008/2009 model year vehicles (or newer) with automatic transmission, power windows, AM/FM stereo and CD players.  Rates include Unlimited Mileage and vehicles are provided with a full tank of gasoline.  24/7 access to ACE in the event of emergencies or assistance.

ACE Rent A Car is located just adjacent to O’Hare Airport and is located the same distance from the terminal area as the major, on-airport car rental companies. Due to their off-airport status, ACE’s tax rates are almost 25% less than the taxes and fees assessed by the on-airport car rental companies. ACE offers a complimentary shuttle to transport you and your group from the terminal area to their rental location.
